The Government Media Office and Civil Defense in Gaza revealed new details about the horrific massacre committed by the Israeli army at dawn on Tuesday in the Mawasi area of Khan Yunis, which was condemned by the United Nations, the European Union and Arab countries.
The office said - in a statement via the Telegram application - that 22 martyrs did not reach the hospitals after the massacre, as their bodies melted and disappeared due to the giant bombs that the occupation forces used to bomb the site that contained tents housing displaced people.
The Civil Defense in Gaza announced that its teams recovered 40 martyrs and 60 wounded who fell in Israeli raids on a camp in an area that contained about 30 tents for displaced people.
The targeted site is within what Israel claims is a "safe" area extending 12 kilometers along the coast from west of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip to the governorates of Khan Yunis and Rafah in the south.
Large bombs
The Civil Defense explained that the bombing caused great destruction, as it was carried out with highly explosive missiles, which left 3 holes with a depth of about 10 meters.
Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal told Al Jazeera that entire families disappeared in the sand as a result of the massacre.
Basal added that it is not possible to determine the number of victims of the bombing of the tents of the displaced in Al Mawasi due to the continued reporting of missing persons.
