US doctors calling for cease-fire: Gaza casualties may exceed 92,000

A group of  45 American volunteer doctors and nurses signed an open letter addressed to US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, which included their testimonies during their work in the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to Israeli aggression for about 300 days.

The doctors stressed the need not to remain silent about what they saw, and said that they cannot forget the harsh scenes of women and children in Gaza.

They expressed their belief that the number of martyrs in Gaza is much higher than what the Ministry of Health in the Strip announced, and they estimated that the number of war victims is more than 92,000, a horrific number that represents 4.6% of the population of Gaza.

The American doctors said in their letter that what they saw was damning evidence of widespread violations of American and international humanitarian law in Gaza.

They called for an arms embargo on Israel and an end to diplomatic and economic support until a permanent ceasefire is reached.

The doctors asserted in their letter that Israel has directly and deliberately destroyed Gaza’s health care system, and accused the occupation forces of deliberately targeting their fellow health workers in Gaza with death, enforced disappearance, or torture.
