Pope: The situation in Gaza is shameful... We will not accept children freezing to death

Pope Francis II described the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip as "shameful", in light of the ongoing Israeli war that has been going on for 15 months.

The Pope said, in his annual address to diplomats, which was delivered on his behalf by one of his aides, on Thursday, that "we cannot accept that children freeze to death, because hospitals are destroyed, or the power grid is bombed," referring to the Israeli "army" destroying hospitals and depriving residents of fuel supplies, which led to the death of at least eight children due to the bitter cold.

The Pope added: "We cannot, under any circumstances, accept the bombing of civilians."
